A small headphone cable tidy made as a Christmas present.
My Dad wanted a little thing to keep his headphones from tangling, so I had a look around, and found this to use as inspiration. (Picture from johnlewis.com)
I made a design in SketchUp. It was surprisingly difficult to make a complex shape like this. I also tried using 3DS Max, but that was even more difficult. A better program to use would have been solidworks. I've uploaded both the sketchup file and the .stl file for printing if you want to make your own.
The Up! 3D printer in MakerNow made quick work of producing this little object. It came out exactly how I wanted it to.
And here's the finished product. I didn't manage to get a better photo than this before I wrapped it up for Christmas, unfortunately. Because of how small it is, the lines from the printing are quite noticeable, but I quite like them. They would go away with a bit of light sanding.
I don't have a picture of it in use, but it does work well. I'll see if I can get a picture of it in use and upload it later on.
