Data capture in pilot gig rowing boats

This device uses an Arduino board and accelerometer to measure the forces on a pilot gig whilst it is being rowed. The measurements are stored on a standard SD card, and can be downloaded later for analysis. The information can be used to see how effectively the crew is rowing the boat. The device is capable of recording information from each rower, but despite several attempts I have yet to design a suitable sensor to fit in/on the pins.

This is my home etched board. Double sided. Not sure I'd do it that way again.
This is the prototype of the device I eventually built. You'll see that it might not pass the waterproof test!.
